The Steer Score™

What score would you
give yourself as a driver?
Now let's find out.

The Steer Score is India's first proprietary benchmark for driving competence. Not a test you pass or fail. A number that tells you exactly where you are — and what to do about it.

What is the Steer Score?

The Steer Score is a 0–100 rating of real-world driving capability, measured across 6 dimensions in a 30-minute in-vehicle assessment. It is not the same as the RTO driving test.

The RTO test checks whether you can follow traffic rules in a short, low-speed evaluation. The Steer Score measures whether you can actually handle real traffic, highway speed, night driving, and rain — conditions the RTO test never examines.

Example: a driver with a valid license for 5 years might score 44/100 — legally licensed, but with real gaps in hazard perception and highway driving that the license itself never tested.

Key takeaway: a driving license proves you passed a test once. The Steer Score measures whether you can actually drive.

Common Questions

Is this like an RTO test?

No. The RTO test checks whether you can follow rules. The Steer Score measures whether you can handle reality — traffic, conditions, hazards, and sustained driving situations that an RTO evaluator never sees.

What if I panic mid-assessment?

Tell your instructor and you stop — right there, no questions asked. We use real, single-control cars by design: a backup pedal would quietly take away the moment where you find out you can actually do this. Your instructor talks you through it and you're always the one in command. Panicking is common, not embarrassing, and it doesn't affect your score.

Will I be alone with a stranger?

You'll be with one certified instructor, identified by name and photo before your session, and every session is logged with time and location. Happy to have a friend or family member along if that helps.

What car do we use?

We can use your car or a SteerClub vehicle — both real, single-control cars. We deliberately skip dual controls: genuine confidence comes from actually being in command, not from knowing someone else has a backup pedal. The assessment protocol is standardised across both, and we note the car type in your report.

What if I score very low?

42% of first-year drivers score below 50. That's not failure — it's the starting point. The score is contextualised with national averages and gives you a clear recommended next step. No shame. Just data.

Is my score shared with anyone?

Your Steer Score is yours. It is shared only with you and your instructor. You choose whether to share it. We never share individual scores without consent.

How long does the assessment take?

30 minutes in-vehicle, plus 15 minutes for debrief and score report review. Plan for about 1 hour total.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Full refund if you cancel 24 hours or more before your assessment. Rescheduling is free, once.
